QR codes are being introduced worldwide to replace traditional barcodes. All of them will be GS1 standard. The new two-dimensional codes take up less space on packaging and can be linked to digital databases. By 2027, they are expected to take over the role of data transport worldwide. We are helping all our partners with the transition.<\/h2>\n

Fifty years ago, in 1974, the GS1 barcode was first read from a Wrigley\u2019s chewing gum package at the checkout of a supermarket in Troy, Ohio. Even then, it was known that packaging not only protects the product, but also carries other information<\/a><\/strong>, including advertising. The easiest way to identify a product, determine its price or determine its place of origin is with a uniform symbol system. That is why it is very important when designing packaging to take into account new, rapidly developing digital changes. The traditional barcode will soon be completely replaced by the QR code. That is why it is important to enrich our product with a QR code now and get our customers used to using it. With the help of digital printing, this is not an obstacle.<\/p>\n

More content behind an image \u2013 this is the QR code<\/h3>\n

Consumers today not only expect a quick scan at the checkout to get the product as soon as possible, but they also want immediate, detailed information. Scanning a QR code can take the customer to the manufacturer’s website<\/strong><\/a>, webshop, or other products. It can share essential information about the food: its ingredients, place of origin, and packaging method. After fifty years, professional organizations would give space to the QR code. Why? The new, two-dimensional (2D) codes \u2013 which are no longer made up of black and white stripes, but of small squares \u2013 offer several advantages: they take up less space on the packaging, they can store more and more detailed data, they are connected to various digital information databases, and the same code can serve the needs of both consumers and business partners.<\/p>\n

How do we place the QR code on the packaging?<\/h3>\n
